Short answer: alone or as a couple, a ferry or shared cruise is cheapest; from about 10–15 guests, a private yacht costs about the same per person as a dinner-and-show cruise – with complete privacy.

There are four main ways to cruise the Bosphorus, and they are very different experiences. This comparison is written by a private yacht operator, so we have tried to be fair: for many travellers a public ferry is the right choice. Prices of other options below are typical ranges seen in autumn 2026 and change with season and operator.

Public ferry

The cheapest way to see the Bosphorus is the municipal ferry from Eminönü. It is authentic and great value, but crowded, with a fixed timetable and no control over where you sit or stop.

Shared sightseeing cruise

Tour boats offer 1.5–2 hour loops with commentary. Comfortable enough and inexpensive, but you share the deck with many other groups and the boat follows the same route every time.

Dinner cruise with show

Large boats serve a set dinner with folk dancing and a belly-dance show. Fun if you want entertainment, but tables are shared, the menu is fixed and the view comes second to the stage.

Private yacht

The yacht is reserved for your group alone: you choose the start time, the route, the food and the music. It costs more for two people, but because the price is per yacht, the cost per guest falls quickly as your group grows.
